Elizabeth R. Makris

Elizabeth R. Makris has a practice experience in general business, securities, and consumer protection matters. Prior to joining Schifanelli & Associates, Ms. Makris interned for the Honorable Judge Alan Kay of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and was an Honors Attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission.  She also received clinical experience in law school representing non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, and housing cooperatives. Ms. Makris has successfully negotiated the purchase of businesses, completed settlement agreements, and obtained municipal licensing. Ms. Makris' practice focuses primarily on immigration and general business law.

In 2001, she was awarded her Bachelor's of Science in International Affairs and Modern Languages summa cum laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology. While at student at Georgia Tech, Ms. Makris was a member of the President's Governing Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Sigma Iota Rho. In 2009 she received her Juris Doctor from American University's Washington College of Law.

Ms. Makris has significant experience working abroad in Latin America, South Asia, and West Africa. She has worked in refugee camps and civil war torn countries. Ms. Makris completed course work throughout Latin America and Europe.
